Genie Hien Tran

On view from April 24–June 16, 2023 at White Bear Center for the Arts.

Description:

Time shifts memories into ambiguity and into new memories. Each time we remember the past, it has become a new past: slightly altered, blurred or more exaggerated and specific. Can we trust our memory and its story? Is remembering merely a projection of our current self, desiring to connect to our past? Second Sources explores this idea through repetition. This exhibition consists of a series of collages, sculptures and textiles drawn from Genie Tran’s studio objects, family photos and Vietnamese cultural archives.
